Studio6 overview
The Living Control Studio6 is a digital media server, capable of delivering music and video from an array of high capacity hard disks instantly to anywhere in the home. It has the following key features:

Playing Music
The Studio6 provides up to four totally independent analogue audio outputs, allowing it to supply music simultaneously to four different zones in the home.

Playing Video
The Studio6 provides up to two totally independent digital or analogue video outputs, allowing it supply video simultaneously to two different zones in the home.

Capturing CD's
CD’s are captured simply by inserting them into the Studio6. They are compressed using the FLAC lossless format which results in no loss of quality but shrinks file sizes to roughly half the original. There are also options to capture as AAC audio in varying quality rates and uncompressed RAW copies of the original disc. The Studio6 comes with a large drive array allowing it to store several thousand albums with no loss of quality.

Importing Video
Video files in the relevant formats can be imported simply by inserting the a disc into the drive and allowing the Studio6 to import the files onto its internal storage. Alternatively, media can be imported over the network from other computers for playback and storage.

Album & Track titles
As the Studio6 captures each CD it automatically connects to the internet via its Ethernet network connection from an online database. This lets you access albums, artists, tracks and styles by name from the Studio6 front panel or on-screen display. You can also choose any disc by name from any keypad on your Living Control multi-room system.

Video Titles
The Studio6 reads the media ID from the file and uses it to catalogue video media. This lets you access videos by name, alphabetically sorted.

User Interface
The Studio6 includes a four-line front panel display, and a series of menus allow you to set up the product, and select media for playback from any of the six potential outputs. Alternatively you can control the Studio6 from an on-screen display connected to either of the video outputs using a remote control. The Studio6 is compatible with either of the two standard Sky TV remote controls which are widely available at low cost. It also can be controlled from a Philips Pronto or compatible remote control and via the network interface.

Studio Control
Studio Control is a handy PC or Mac based controller that lets you operate the Studio6 remotely from a PC or a Windows Mobile PDA linked via Ethernet. This allows you to search for and play music, rename albums and tracks, edit the styles and playlists and manage podcasts. It also allows full management facilities of video files stored on the unit.

How it works
The Studio6 contains a powerful processor combined with two video processing units enabling it to capture media whilst playing four separate streams of analogue audio in addition to two independent streams of full HD video with digital audio. CD capture is approximately 10 times normal speed, so a typical album can take as little as four minutes to capture (depending on compression settings).

The Studio6 connects to a Living Control CPU via the stereo line-level, digital outputs and analogue video outputs. In addition, a serial cable connects to the CPU serial connector, for instant transfer of album, track, and artist information. As soon as you capture a disc it becomes available for playback.

The Studio6 provides analogue stereo line-level outputs, a digital coax output and a digital optical output, suitable for connecting to a digital surround processor or digital preamplifier. This can be connected to the RoomBox6 via the optional digital input board to provide a extra music outputs. It also provides twin high performance video outputs for viewing video stored on the server.
